What this map means
Charters, not brand family trees
Each card represents an FDIC institution or an institution named in an FDIC merger event. An arrow shows one charter being absorbed by a survivor. Name changes stay on the same charter card.
Asset figures are last reported values and may come from different dates. Complaint counts are context, not a rating, and should be considered alongside company size and CFPB coverage. Branch events describe FDIC records, not proof that a location is currently operating.
