How the midpoint is calculated
The utility follows the calculated driving route until it reaches half of the route distance, then selects the closest town in the bundled GeoNames list. This is halfway by road distance, not necessarily equal driving time, and the route may change as road data changes.
Address privacy and service limits
Your two addresses are sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim to locate them. The resulting coordinates are sent to openrouteservice to calculate a driving route. Results may be cached temporarily in this server's memory, but your addresses are not saved to the site database. Do not enter private or confidential locations.
